Job Opportunity: Medical Coding & Billing Clerk

Location: Bigfork, MN Medical clinic

Positions Available: 1 Full Time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am - 5pm

Our Bigfork medical clinic is currently seeking Medical Coding and Billing Clerk. This position will ensure coding and billing processes are completed accurately for proper reimbursement of healthcare claims. The Medical Coding and Billing Clerk will maintain compliance with state and federal laws as well as other applicable rules and regulatory standards for healthcare systems. This position must focus on timely submissions, month end completion, quality assurance and quality improvement for the organization’s account receivable system.
 
Medical Coding & Billing Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Review, reconcile and complete daily patient superbills with medical provider notes in patient charts utilizing the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Accurately code medical provider diagnoses and procedures with ICD-10 for proper insurance billing.
  • Log and track MnVFC immunizations given at Bigfork medical site and determine patient eligibility for free or full cost vaccinations.
  • Manage patient accounts through determining billing of primary and secondary insurances; processing claims to insurance companies; and entering and reconciling daily payments in the data practice management system.
  • Batch daily charges for all medical locations and send claims for medical and dental to various insurance companies
  • Enter sliding fee scale information on Bigfork and Big Falls patient accounts.
  • Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies before, during, and after the submission of insurance claims.
  • Ensure all medical health insurance is billed for patient accounts by month end deadlines.
  • Send out billing statements on a monthly basis to patients.
  • Balance quarterly Medicare credit reports to reconcile overpayment discrepancies.
  • Reconcile and submit financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Follow Cook Area Health Services Compliance Plan and adhere to new guidelines as required.
  • Complete bank deposits for Bigfork and Big Falls medical sites.

Medical Coding & Billing Clerk Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Programs (excel, word, outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with dental & medical terminologyPreferred
  • Associate Degree in accounting or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Medical Coding experience with ICD-10
  • Experience utilizing various accounts receivables software and programs.
  • Medical and dental billing and customer service experience, 4 or more years preferred
